About

ONE Centre

The ONE Centre is the region's dedicated LGBTQ+ community centre. It's a welcoming space where people of all ages, identities and backgrounds can connect, feel supported, and be fully themselves. It’s a place to spend time with others, build confidence, and feel part of a community that understands and celebrates who you are.

The ONE Centre is rooted in community.

It brings LGBTQ+ people together across ages and experiences, creates opportunities to be seen and heard, and helps people feel visible, valued and connected.

Built on care, pride and belonging, it’s a space where everyone is welcome.

At the heart of the Centre is our community kitchen - a place to drop in for a coffee, have a conversation and take a moment to breathe. It’s a simple idea, but connection often starts over a cuppa.

Our Stonewall community space offers comfortable sofas, a pool table, darts and table tennis, alongside crafting areas and a large TV for cinema screenings and gaming — with plenty of games, books and activities to enjoy. It’s a relaxed environment to unwind, socialise or simply spend time in good company.

For those who need privacy, Chatterbox provides a quieter space to meet, talk and seek peer-to-peer advice and support.

We also host groups, meetings and large-scale events. The Cashman, Osborne and McKellen rooms can accommodate everything from small gatherings of eight people to events of up to 160.

And in Studio 2, our fully equipped video broadcast and podcast studio, stories are recorded, conversations are captured and new resources are created - amplifying LGBTQ+ voices across the region and beyond.

Every space within the ONE Centre is flexible and adaptable. Whether you’re hosting a workshop, recording a podcast, running a community group or simply looking for somewhere to connect, the possibilities are there.

Just bring your ideas - and your imagination.

How the ONE Centre was Shaped by Community

The ONE Centre was shaped by our community.

Following a wide-ranging consultation with LGBTQ+ communities across the region, we listened carefully to what was needed and what the community didn't want.

There was a clear call for a space to thrive and grow. A safe, warm and welcoming environment to find friendship, build community and access support.

A sober space. A place where young and older LGBTQ+ people could come together, share ideas, learn from one another and build meaningful connections across generations.

Just as importantly, the message about what was not wanted was equally clear: no rivalry, no gatekeeping, no exclusion. Instead, a space rooted in respect, belonging and unity, somewhere everyone can feel comfortable and valued.

The ONE Centre is our response to that call.

We don’t want bitter in-fighting about who is and is not included. Everyone should be welcome.

There’s always something happening at the ONE Centre.

We offer a wide range of activities, groups, and events that support wellbeing, creativity, and connection - from social meet-ups and peer support to workshops, wellbeing sessions, and community events. Whether you’re looking to try something new or simply spend time with others, there’s space for you here.

We also help people find the right support beyond the Centre. If you’re looking for specific groups, services, or additional help, our team can offer information, guidance, and signposting to trusted support that meets your needs.
